There are several weapons in Team Fortress 2 which are not obtainable by normal means. That is, they are only available either via crafting or through promotional offers, which typically involves preordering a game.

Below is a list of TF2 rare weapons that you can only get through crafting or promotional means.

All Classes

There are 2 melee weapons that most of the classes can use and cannot be obtained from drops.

Only the Engineer and the Spy cannot use them.

Freedom Staff

Featuring a golden eagle on top of a broken wooden stick, this is a melee weapon that can be used by all classes, with the exceptions above. Functionally, it acts like a normal melee weapon and gives no special attributes nor features. In other words, it’s just a re-skin.

It is given in genuine quality to players who purchase the Total War Master Collection. But you can also get it if you just own all the games in said collection.

Ham Shank

As with the freedom staff, this melee weapon is a re-skin of the default melee weapon and can be used by all classes, with the exception of engineer and spy. It has no special attributes nor does it make up part of a set.

It was given in genuine quality to players who pre-purchased the game Don’t Starve.

Heavy Weapons

The Apoco-Fists

These are a pair of gloves worn by the heavy. This weapon is identical to the default fists, but cause an enemy to explode when they are killed. In other words, killing an enemy with these fists is identical to killing them with an explosive weapon, such as the rocket launcher or the stickybomb launcher.

This weapon is a promotional item that was given in genuine quality to players who pre-ordered Saint Rows: The Third on Steam before November 15, 2011.

Pyro Weapons

Nostromo Napalmer

A primary weapon for the Pyro, it replaces the default flamethrower. Its design is based off the flamethrowers made by Dennis Monroe Parker from the 1979 film Alien. Although it functions similarly to the default flamethrower, it restores 20 health to the user for each teammate you extinguish.

Plus, if you have the complete Isolated Merc set, you’ll inflict 4x damage upon your enemies, but at the same time will take 4x melee damage.

Moving on, this weapon was awarded in genuine quality to those who pre-ordered the game Alien: Isolation.

The Maul

This is a melee weapon used by the pyro. It is simply a re-skin of the Homewrecker and has no unique attributes of its own.

This weapon is a promotional item for the game, Red Faction: Armageddon, and was awarded in genuine quality to players who preordered the game on Steam before June 6, 2011.

Scout Weapons

Three-Rune Blade

This is a melee weapon used by the scout. It is simply a re-skin of the Boston Basher and has no unique attributes of its own, though, the sound it makes when it hits an enemy is identical to the Eyelander.

This weapon is a promotional item for the game, The Witcher 2, and was awarded in genuine quality to players who preordered the game on Steam before May 17, 2011.

Unarmed Combat

This is a melee weapon used by the scout. It is simply a re-skin of the Special Delivery melee weapon, the Holy Mackerel, and has no unique attributes of its own.

However, it does not constitute as part of the Special Delivery set. In other words, if you want the increased health from the set then you must equip the Holy Mackerel as the melee weapon along with the Shortstop, Mad Milk and the Milkman.

Also, this weapon displays the phrase ‘ARM KILL!’ instead of ‘FISH KILL!’ when an enemy is killed by it.

Sniper Weapons

AWPer Hand

A re-skin of the sniper’s sniper rifle, it is based on the AWP found in Counter-Strike 1.6 and especially Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The term AWP is short for Accuracy International Arctic Warfare, a rifle manufactured since the 1980s by the British company, Accuracy International.

Speaking of CS:GO, this weapon was awarded in genuine quality to players who pre-ordered the game.

But you can still get it via crafting. In fact, the AWPer hand is one of the most valuable weapons, averaging 3 ref metals.

Spy Weapons

Quäckenbirdt

A re-skin of the spy’s invisibility watch, featuring a light-blue duck as the screen. This watch has a nice gold and silver design and looks great in first person view. Other than that, it has no special features and is not part any of set.

It was a promotional item for the game Hitman Absolution and was given in genuine quality to those who pre-ordered it.

Sharp Dresser

This is a melee weapon used by the spy. It is simply a re-skin of the default spy knife and has no unique attributes of its own, however, it is not possible to taunt kill with this weapon it does not utilize the fencing taunt.

This weapon is a promotional item for the game, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and was awarded, along with Dashin’ Hashshashin, in genuine quality to players who preordered the game on Steam before November 29, 2011 in the United States and December 1, 2011 for other countries.

Wanga Prick

This is a melee weapon used by the spy. It is simply a re-skin of the Saharan set knife, Your-Eternal Reward, and has no unique attributes of its own.

However, it does not constitute as part of the Saharan spy set. As such, if you want the reduced decloak sound volume from the set then you must equip Your Eternal Reward as the melee weapon along with the L’Etranger and the Familiar Fez.
